Biography

Vladimir Khanassov graduated from medical school in Kazakhstan with honors and completed a post-graduate training family medicine fellowship in Care of the Elderly at McGill University in 2016. He has prior residency training and completed a Master's program in Family Medicine at McGill University, focusing on key components of dementia management and models in primary health care, particularly case management. Currently, he practices at Herzl Family Medicine, within the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the Jewish General Hospital and the Institut Universitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal (IUGM). He leads the Herzl Eldercare Memory program, assisting family physicians at Herzl Family practice with complex geriatric cases. As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McGill University, he has been awarded several scholarships including the FRQS bursaries and was nominated for the McGill Med Star in 2015. Khanassov also received the 'Patient's Choice Award' at the North American Primary Care Research Group conference. His research examines the effects of Alzheimer’s care plans in Quebec, aiding patients with dementia and their caregivers in primary care settings. He supervises family medicine residents and fellows, as well as medical students. Khanassov is a member of the Health Care for the Elderly Planning Committee, focusing on educational initiatives to support practicing family physicians in addressing geriatric issues in routine primary care.
