Biography

Vladimir Okhmatovski was born in Moscow, Russia in 1974. He received his M.S. degree (with distinction) in Radiophysics and his Ph.D. degree in Antennas and Microwave Circuits from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in 1996 and 1997, respectively. In 1997, he joined the Radio Engineering Department at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute as an Assistant Professor. He then worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the National Technical University of Athens from 1998 to 1999 and at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1999 to 2003. He held a position at Cadence Design Systems as a Senior Member of Technical Staff from 2003 to 2004 and worked as an independent consultant from 2004 to 2008. Since 2004, he has been with the University of Manitoba's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, where he is currently a Full Professor. Dr. Okhmatovski has been active in various professional committees and organizations, including the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society and has received several awards, including the 2017 Intel Outstanding Researcher Award. He focuses on computational techniques in electromagnetics, quantum computing, and fast algorithms for electromagnetic analysis.
