Vladyslav Lanovoy is an Associate Professor of Public International Law at Université Laval. He is also a visiting professor and holder of the Neuberger-Jesin Research Chair on International Conflict Resolution at the University of Ottawa. Lanovoy has served as Co-Chair of the International Courts and Tribunals Interest Group with the American Society of International Law and is the Associate Editor of the Canadian Yearbook of International Law. His research primarily focuses on international courts and tribunals, the sources and codification of international law, state and international organization responsibility, climate change, and reparations. Before joining Université Laval in 2021, he was an Associate Legal Officer at the International Court of Justice (2017-2021) and an Assistant Legal Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (2014). He has worked in international arbitration with leading law firms in London and Paris and has consulted for the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Environment Programme. Lanovoy has acted as counsel in contentious and advisory proceedings before the International Court of Justice and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. He is admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales. He holds a PhD in International Law from the Graduate Institute in Geneva and is the author of "Complicity Limits Law International Responsibility" published by Hart Publishing in 2016, which received the Paul Guggenheim Prize in 2017.
