Biography

Volha Charnysh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on the role of identity in state-building, economic development, and the long-term effects of violence, with a regional emphasis on Europe and Eurasia. Volha received her PhD in Government from Harvard University in 2017 and has held fellowships at the Princeton Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance, the Amsterdam Centre for European Studies, and Stanford University's Hoover Institution.
