Dr. Volodymyr Kuleshov

Biography

Volodymyr Kuleshov is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Cornell Tech, Cornell University. His research primarily focuses on the applications of machine learning in science, health, and sustainability. Kuleshov's work includes high-level directions in machine learning, particularly in generative models, probabilistic methods, and decision-making under uncertainty. He has developed technologies utilizing machine learning to improve human and environmental health, engaging in projects that aim to enhance genome sequencing and minimize food waste through innovative machine learning approaches. Notably, he co-founded Afresh Technologies, an AI startup that addresses food waste, achieving deployment in 10% of supermarkets. Kuleshov previously contributed to a Stanford spin-off, Moleculo, which forms part of Illumina's genome phasing service. He also teaches graduate courses on machine learning at Cornell Tech, covering both introductory and advanced topics such as applied machine learning and deep generative models, receiving recognition for his contributions in terms of outstanding papers and research awards in the field.
