Dr. Vsevolod Katritch

Biography

Vsevolod Katritch is a Professor at USC Dornsife, specializing in quantitative computational biology. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. His research interests are broadly focused on developing and applying computational tools to study key biological phenomena, particularly in the context of receptor signaling and drug action. His current research group investigates the structure and function of membrane proteins, including the superfamily of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are targets for over 30% of clinical drugs. His work features the deciphering of molecular interactions between GPCRs and their ligands, the optimization of compounds with novel functional properties, and integrating structural biology with systems biology approaches. Katritch’s contributions include numerous publications on drug discovery and receptor pharmacology, elucidating mechanisms of receptor activation and bias. His multidisciplinary seminars and publications emphasize the interplay between science, technology, and society, demonstrating a commitment to advancing the field of computational biology in pharmacological applications.
