Dr. Vyas Sekar

Biography

Vyas Sekar is a Tan Family Professor at the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, specializing in network security and internet safety. His research focuses on improving the security of internet systems and has made significant contributions in areas such as cyberattacks, particularly with connected devices like smart cars. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in 2010 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Chennai, completed in 2003. Sekar is involved in collaborative projects that integrate the expertise of faculty and students across various institutions, fostering advancements in network and distributed system security. His work not only addresses theoretical aspects of security but also translates into practical solutions that have been discussed in notable symposiums such as the Annual Network and Distributed System Security Symposium.
