W. Mark Saltzman is a renowned engineer and educator whose research has significantly impacted the fields of drug delivery, biomaterials, nanobiotechnology, and tissue engineering. He has authored over 350 research papers and patents and is the sole author of textbooks on Biomedical Engineering, Tissue Engineering, and Drug Delivery. Over his 35-year career, he has led independent research programs at prestigious institutions including Johns Hopkins, Cornell, and Yale. Appointed as the Goizueta Foundation Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at Yale in 2002, he also served as the founding chair of Yale's Department of Biomedical Engineering for 12 years and was the Head of Jonathan Edwards College from 2016 to 2022. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Engineering.
