Biography

W.D.B. Warbroek is an Assistant Professor at the University of Twente, specializing in Civil Engineering Management. His research focuses on climate-resilient transitions, particularly in the context of energy transitions, climate change adaptation, and resilient infrastructure. Warbroek emphasizes the necessity of adapting urban areas to climate-induced challenges such as heat stress and pluvial flooding, advocating for integrating blue-green infrastructure measures. He has considerable expertise in economics, greenhouse gas emissions, and carbon governance, contributing to significant research projects including the EU HORIZON2020 initiative "SpongeWorks" aimed at enhancing natural water retention capacities in European river basins.
