Biography

Wade Russu earned his Bachelor of Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1992 and his PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2000. He completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, Irvine at the Cancer Research Institute and the Institute for Brain Aging and Dementia. Dr. Russu focuses on drug discovery in cancer, particularly in designing and synthesizing quinazoline-based kinase inhibitors aimed at the treatment of various cancers. His teaching philosophy involves providing students with tools and knowledge to actively engage in their learning processes, emphasizing the importance of practical applications of chemistry in pharmacy. In addition to his academic duties, he is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, such as the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and enjoys problem-solving through research in medicinal chemistry. Outside of academia, Dr. Russu is an enthusiast of scuba diving and home brewing.
