Dr. Wael Abuzeid attended Queen’s University where he completed his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Computing in 2001. He earned his Doctorate in Medicine in 2008 and completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Ottawa in 2011. Dr. Abuzeid underwent fellowship training in Cardiology at the University of Toronto, where he also completed a concurrent clinical fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and a Master of Science (MSc) in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement in 2016. His clinical interests revolve around Interventional Cardiology, particularly in Structural Heart Interventions and Complex Coronary Interventions. He co-founded the Transcatheter Mitral Valve Interventions Program and is a co-leader of the PFO Closure Program at Queen’s University, as well as a member of the TAVI team since 2023. His research interest focuses on clinical outcomes, quality of life, and clinical trials. Dr. Abuzeid has published over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts and received the Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology in 2014. He currently serves as the Division Cardiology Research Lead and is actively involved in the research and clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows at Queen’s University.
