Biography

Wael El-dakhakhni is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at McMaster University. His research is centered around simulating complex systems to identify interdependence-induced vulnerabilities and the subsequent cascading/systemic risks that can impact resilience. He leads INViSiONLab, which stands for Interdependent Network Visualization, Simulation, Optimization, and Learning laboratory, where trainees focus on various aspects of system resilience and vulnerabilities. Dr. El-dakhakhni is also an Associate Member of the Walter G. Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology, and he directs the Centre for Effective Design of Structures. Additionally, he is a member of the McMaster Digital Transformation Research Centre and the McMaster Institute for Multi-Hazard Systemic Risk Studies. His work contributes significantly to understanding and enhancing the resilience of infrastructure systems against various challenges.
