Biography

Walid Busaba is a Professor of Finance at the Ivey Business School, Western University. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with Distinction and an MBA from the American University of Beirut, as well as a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and a Ph.D. in Finance from Boston College. Prior to joining Ivey, Professor Busaba served on the faculty at the Eller College of Business at the University of Arizona and was a visiting faculty member at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. His research centers on investment banking, corporate finance, and financial contracting, particularly examining the intermediary roles of underwriters, initial public offering timing, and the capital raising experiences of foreign-listed Chinese companies. He has received several awards for his academic performance and teaching excellence, including the Dean's Commendation for Teaching Excellence and the Ivey Award of Excellence. Professor Busaba has also held various leadership roles, including serving as the Ph.D. coordinator and Finance Area Group coordinator at Ivey, and has contributed to reviewing tenure cases and overseeing business plan competitions.
