Biography

Walker Horsfall received a PhD in Medieval Studies from the University of Toronto. His research is broadly focused on the intersection of medieval literature and natural philosophy, with a primary emphasis on Middle High German religious love poetry from the twelfth to fourteenth centuries. He also examines Arthurian courtly romances and mystical texts, investigating how medieval literature can enhance our understanding of the histories of gender, sexuality, religion, and science. Currently, he is exploring the existence of 'communities of pleasure' in the High Medieval period and employing rhetorical and narratological strategies in medieval German and Scandinavian texts for encoding contemporary scientific information, particularly related to astronomy.
