Dr. Walker Ross

Biography

Walker Ross is a Lecturer in Sport Management at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education and Sport. With a rich background originally from the United States, he has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research agenda is actively focused on sport ecology and sustainability, particularly the impact of the Triple Planetary Crisis on sport and governance. His work has been published in key journals such as the European Sport Management Quarterly and Leisure Studies, and he has contributed to popular media outlets including the BBC and CNN. Ross leads the Sport Ecology Group, dedicating efforts to raise awareness about the sport-environment relationship, and he is involved with the United Nations Environment Programme. His academic qualifications include a PhD in Sport Entertainment Management from the University of South Carolina and a Master’s in Kinesiology from the University of Georgia. Ross also supervises PhD students focusing on sport ecology research and has presented at numerous conferences, discussing topics from sustainability in major sporting events to the impact of climate change on sport.
