Dr. Wallis Motta

Biography

Wallis Motta is currently an LSE Fellow in Media Communications at the London School of Economics. He is also a Research Officer, working on projects that focus on community digital connectivity and communication infrastructure in multicultural settings, particularly in London. Prior to his current role, Wallis served as a Research Associate at the Bartlett School of Graduate Studies at University College London (UCL), where he was responsible for community engagement in the 'Screens in the Wild' project. He has worked as a Visiting Lecturer at Riga Stradins University and held a position as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Cambridge. Wallis has experience in the advertising industry as a planner at agencies such as DDB and JWT in Mexico City, and as a market research consulting expert at Flamingo International in London and De la Riva in Mexico City. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from UCL, as well as a Master's degree in Material Visual Culture and a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences from Universidad Iberoamericana. His research interests include neoliberalism, new technological urban landscapes, place-making, transmedia practices, communication asset-infrastructure mapping, civic engagement, and mixed methods research.
