Walter Gotlieb obtained his MD summa cum laude in 1984 and a PhD in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1991 at Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. Following two years at the National Institutes of Health, he received the National Cancer Institute Award for Outstanding Performance and completed a year-long fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at UCLA. He has been a pioneer in robotic surgery in gynecologic oncology across Canada and has lectured extensively on the topic, including proctoring in Canada, China, India, and Israel. He has received thirteen national and international awards in cancer research and has published over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts in reputable international journals and book chapters. Dr. Gotlieb has also held leadership roles, including President of the Gynecologic Oncology Society of Canada and is a senior editor for the International Journal of Gynecologic Cancer. He completed an executive course in healthcare management at Harvard Business School.
