Biography

Wan-Ju Li is an Associate Professor at the UW Comprehensive Diabetes Center at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research primarily focuses on investigating the pathogenesis of aging-associated disorders that affect bone and cartilage, and developing potential therapeutic solutions for these diseases. He is particularly interested in determining how skeletal stem cells are affected by diabetes, which can lead to a loss of capacity in maintaining bone and cartilage homeostasis. His group has published work including the paper titled "Bone Morphogenetic Protein-6 Attenuates Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus-associated Bone Loss," which highlights the impact of diabetes on skeletal health. He has also served on the thesis committee for CMB student Jon Odorico, and collaborated with Dr. Dawn Davis on a pilot project that submitted a proposal to investigate how GATA6 mediates diabetes-associated bone loss.
