Dr. Wanda Parsons

Biography

Wanda Parsons is an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean of Admissions at the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland. She specializes in the Family Practice Unit and has a dedicated focus on Women's Health, which includes research on breastfeeding, parenting, and elder care. Her academic contributions to family medicine include published works regarding the parenting experiences of physicians, highlighting the unique challenges they face in Newfoundland and Labrador. Additionally, she has explored the breastfeeding practices among physician-mothers, contributing important insights into maternal health. Parsons has been involved in various studies, including the prevalence of cervical pathogens in women and the effectiveness of call/recall systems in improving compliance with cervical cancer screening. Her research is widely recognized within the field and she continues to be an influential figure in family medicine education and practice.
