Dr. Wanda Popescu

Biography

Wanda M. Popescu, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine, where she also serves as the Director of the Thoracic and Vascular Anesthesia Section. Dr. Popescu received her medical degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, in 1996. She completed her anesthesiology residency training at Yale New Haven Hospital in 2002 and further specialized through fellowships in vascular and cardio-thoracic anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine from 2002 to 2004. Dr. Popescu is an active member of professional societies, including the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. She has held significant roles such as the Chair of the Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography Examination writing committee and is a board examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology. Additionally, Dr. Popescu is an editor of "Master Techniques in Upper and Lower Airway Management," which includes important instructional videos. She is involved in national and international guideline writing committees and has co-authored guidelines aimed at enhancing recovery after lung surgeries. Dr. Popescu is dedicated to training the next generation of anesthesiology students and improving educational standards within her field.
