Biography

Wändi Bruine de Bruin is a Collaborating Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Engineering and Public Policy and a Provost Professor at the University of Southern California. She directs the USC Schaeffer Behavioral Science Policy Initiative and her research focuses on behavioral science, risk psychology, science communication, and behavior change, particularly as it applies to health and environmental issues. Wändi is recognized as a Fellow of the Society for Risk Analysis, Psychonomic Society, and the Network for Studies on Pensions, Aging and Retirement (NETSPAR). She serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals including the Journal of Behavioral Decision Making and the Journal of Risk Research. Wändi has contributed to multiple National Academy of Sciences committees on effective science communication and has extensive experience in addressing public risk communication related to health products. Her educational background includes a Ph.D. and MS in Behavioral Decision Theory from Carnegie Mellon University and advanced degrees in Cognitive Psychology and Psychology from the Free University of Amsterdam.
