Biography

Ward Vloeberghs is a Senior Lecturer at Erasmus University College Rotterdam, specializing in political science with a focus on the contemporary Middle East. He engages students actively in his teaching, utilizing architecture to convey political history, particularly in the context of Islam. His research delves into the dynamics of architecture’s interaction with power and religion, specifically investigating how dynastic power influences political change in the region. Vloeberghs has developed innovative courses that involve students in analyzing political landscapes through maps, which are designed to enhance their understanding of Middle East politics. As the coordinator of the Political Science International Relations major, he leads a dedicated team at EUC, committed to educating students as critical world citizens in the evolving landscape of global politics.
