In 2009, Warren Blunt became involved in research in the Department of Biosystems Engineering as a summer research assistant investigating biofuels from lignocellulosic sources. This experience unknowingly launched his keen interest in sustainability and shaped his career trajectory. He subsequently joined the National Research Council Canada as an Assistant Research Officer in the Aquatic Crop Resource Development Research Centre, where he developed and led client-driven collaborative research projects with Canadian small-medium enterprises, non-profit organizations, and government departments, fostering a competitive Canadian bio-economy. In 2023, he started a new role as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biosystems Engineering.
