Biography

Warren Chin joined the Defence Studies Department at King's College London in 1999, where he teaches international politics, war, strategy, defence economics, and military history. From 1995 to 1999, he worked at the War Studies Department of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, teaching strategy and military history. Between 1992 and 1995, he served as a visiting lecturer at London Guildhall University, focusing on British politics and international relations. He was the editor of Defence Studies Journal and served as the academic director for the British Army’s Command Staff Course from 2003 to 2006. In 2008, he became the Director of Academic Support at the Royal College of Defence Studies, overseeing the college's course on international security and national strategy, as well as the delivery of the Masters Degree in International Studies. Additionally, he has worked as an advisor at PA Consulting, assisting the Pentagon and the Ministry of Defence in preparing reports on network-centric warfare and low-intensity operations. Chin has participated in workshops sponsored by the MOD on future defence policy and has worked with the British military’s Doctrine, Concepts Development Centre on security and future conflict stabilization doctrine. His current research focuses on terrorism and counterinsurgency, and he is writing a book on the UK's strategy and operations in the war on terror.
