Dr. Warwick Anderson

Biography

Warwick Anderson is an Emeritus Professor at Monash University's Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Adelaide and has held postdoctoral research positions at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Medical School and the University of Sydney. He has served as the Head of the School of Biomedical Sciences and as a Professor of Physiology at Monash University. His research focuses on the renal causes of hypertension, resulting in the publication of 170 peer-reviewed articles. Anderson has made significant contributions to research policy and has held leadership roles such as Secretary General of the International Human Frontier Science Program Organization, which promotes international collaboration in basic life sciences. He was also the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the National Health and Medical Research Council, spearheading reforms and expanding international research support. His accolades include being appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2023 and holding honorary doctorates from several universities. Anderson actively engages with various national scientific advisory bodies and is recognized as an International Fellow of the American Heart Foundation and an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science.
