Biography

Wayne Caldwell is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Guelph, recognized nationally for his leadership in rural planning, agricultural land preservation, and sustainable community development. He has lectured across Canada on the future of rural communities and has published extensively on issues related to farmland protection, rural land use, and community planning. As a skilled facilitator, he focuses on managing change in rural and agricultural settings. Caldwell is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners and has held notable positions such as Past President of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute. He has served on the CIP Council and as Past President of the Association of Canadian University Planning Programs. Caldwell is a founding member and Past Chair of the Ontario Rural Council and has contributed to the Huron Stewardship Council at the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation. He chaired Ontario’s Provincial Nutrient Management Advisory Committee and maintains a career-long affiliation with the Huron County Department of Planning and Development.
