Biography

Wayne Cox was born and raised near Ottawa. He completed his undergraduate degrees in Political Science and History at Carleton University, before pursuing a Master’s degree in Political Science at the same institution and a PhD in Political Studies from Queen’s University. In the late 1990s, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Royal Military College of Canada, later joining the Department of Political Studies at Queen’s University in 2001. His PhD research focused on the Kurdish question in Turkey. Cox's research interests include post-positivist critical international relations theory, and he has co-edited a volume, 'Locating Global Order: American Power Canadian Security 9/11', published by UBC Press in 2010. He has also published works on identity and globalization, the Kurdish question, and Canadian defence policy. In addition to teaching courses in political studies, he is passionate about kayaking, writing, and playing guitar.
