Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Wayne Snedden. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Wayne Snedden is a professor in the Department of Biology at Queen's University, specializing in Plant Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. His research laboratory focuses on deciphering calcium signal transduction in plants, investigating the cellular mechanisms that enable plants to cope with both abiotic stresses (such as cold and drought) and biotic stresses (such as pathogen attack). His particular interest lies in the role of calcium ions in plant signal transduction, focusing on calcium-binding proteins and calmodulin and its related proteins that participate in plant responses to environmental stimuli. This work provides a knowledge base that informs technology for engineering improved stress-tolerance in crops. In addition to his research, Wayne enjoys the challenges and rewards of teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels, having taught a variety of courses in the department, including introductory biology, upper-year lecture and lab courses in plant physiology, and specialized graduate courses.
