Biography

Associate Professor Wee Sim Choo completed a Bachelor of Science in Food Studies, majoring in Food Quality Management (Honours), and a Master of Science in Food Chemistry and Biochemistry from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She worked as a research officer at the Malaysian Palm Oil Board before moving to the University of Otago in New Zealand to complete her PhD in Food Science. Additionally, she obtained a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Monash University. Currently, she is employed at the School of Science at Monash University Malaysia. She has received several awards, including the PVC Awards for Excellence in Teaching and the PVC Commendation for Excellence in Education. Her current research interests include functional foods, the extraction and application of bioactive compounds, phytochemicals, probiotics, and prebiotics. Associate Professor Choo also serves as an Associate Editor for Sustainable Food Processing and is actively involved in various editorial boards and committees. Her teaching commitment includes courses related to Food Bioprocess Technology and Food Industrial Microbiology, and she enjoys mentoring students in their academic pursuits.
