Biography

Wei-Li Hong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geochemistry at Stockholm University. He specializes in marine geochemistry, focusing on the quantification of geochemical observations and the application of numerical models to study pore fluids and sediments. His research includes investigating silicate alteration in marine sediments, glacial-driven submarine groundwater discharge, and methane dynamics in the Arctic Ocean. Wei-Li is recognized for his contributions to understanding the geochemical processes affecting the long-term CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere and the impact of cryospheric dynamics on submarine groundwater systems. He teaches Master and Bachelor-level courses at Stockholm University, including Marine Geochemistry and Oceanography. Wei-Li's work is funded by several grants, including the ERC Consolidator grant and research projects addressing the interactions of freshwater discharge and fluid chemistry in Svalbard fjords, as well as the dynamics of gas hydrates on continental margins.
