Biography

Professor Wei-Na Lee's research focuses on understanding the role of culture in persuasive communication. She has authored over 100 published works covering topics such as acculturation, country-of-origin effects, consumer ethnocentrism, cross-border brand alliances, and consumer responses to advertisements with patriotic themes. Her work has garnered more than 20 research grants, and she is a three-time recipient of the American Academy of Advertising Research Fellowship Award. Her research has been published in prominent journals, including the Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, International Journal of Advertising, Psychology & Marketing, and the Journal of Business Research, and she has been invited to give national and international presentations, including keynote addresses. For her outstanding and systematic contributions to advertising research, she received the 2017 Ivan L. Preston Outstanding Contribution to Research Award from the American Academy of Advertising. Additionally, she has served as a visiting professor at advertising agencies in Chicago and New York City. From 1998 to 2001, she was the Executive Director of the Office of Survey Research at the University of Texas at Austin, where she implemented various technology-assisted research tools. Professor Lee has also played a key role in helping UT advertising students gain cross-cultural awareness and has designed and led short-term study abroad courses in locations such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, and Shanghai from 2007 to 2013. Her goal in research, teaching, and service is to inspire and mentor a new generation of thinkers and doers in cross-cultural communication.
