Biography

Wei Gao is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Texas at Austin, where he completed his degree in 2014. Prior to that, he earned a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, in 2007, and another Master of Science in Solid Mechanics from Tsinghua University, China, in 2006. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Mechanics from Sichuan University, China, awarded in 2003. His research interests are centered around mechanics of materials, including multiscale materials modeling, surface and interface phenomena, mechanochemistry, and mechanobiology. Additionally, he explores advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning as applied to materials science, including studies on two-dimensional materials, metallic materials, soft materials, and biomaterials.
