Biography

Wei Li is an Associate Professor at the Vancouver School of Economics, University of British Columbia. He holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has a strong research background in contract theory, applied game theory, and information economics. His work predominantly explores how asymmetric information influences people's incentives to communicate truthfully and the design of communication protocols tailored to align incentives. Professor Li's research interests also include studying misinformation in social networks, particularly how planners can optimally counter misinformation through targeted messaging. His findings highlight how network structures and initial opinions shape effective communication strategies. In addition, he investigates the implications of cognitive abilities on learning within social networks. Outside of his academic work, he enjoys reading, yoga, and various forms of art.
