Biography

Wei Lu is a Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, and currently serves as the Associate Chair for Facilities Planning. He holds dual PhDs in Materials Science Engineering from Princeton University (2001) and in Solid Mechanics from Tsinghua University (1998), along with a Master’s degree in Solid Mechanics (1995) and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Mechanics (1994), both from Tsinghua University. His research interests encompass energy storage electrochemistry, simulation of nano/microstructure evolution, mechanics of nano/micro systems, advanced manufacturing, and the mechanical properties of advanced materials in relation to microstructures. Wei Lu has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field, including the George J. Huebner, Jr. Research Excellence Award in 2020, and the Creative, Innovative, Daring (C/I/D) Award in 2019. He has been recognized as an elected Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and has a strong record of mentorship and collaboration in academia, contributing significantly to the academic community.
