Wei Yee Wee received his B.Sc. in Bioinformatics from Multimedia University in 2012 and then pursued a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at the University of Malaya. Following his Ph.D., he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Research in Biotechnology for Agriculture (CEBAR), University of Malaya, where he gained extensive experience in bioinformatics research. Dr. Wee's research focuses on Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) projects, including whole genome and transcriptome analysis in eukaryotic genomes and bacterial genome metagenomics. He specializes in bioinformatics analysis tasks like genome assembly, annotation, SNP variant identification and prediction, differential gene expression analysis, and phylogenetic tree analysis. Additionally, he has developed bioinformatics tools such as the Pairwise Genome Comparison tool (PGC) and the Pathogenomics Profiling Tool (PathoProT) to facilitate bioinformatics analyses for researchers. Currently, his ongoing research projects involve whole genome analysis of Mycobacterium cosmeticum and transcriptomic analysis of Bosenbergia rotunda, showcasing his commitment to advancing bioinformatics research in various biological contexts.
