Biography

Wei Zhang received his PhD degree in Electronic Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2005. He was a Research Fellow in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 2006 to 2007. In 2008, he joined the School of Electrical Engineering & Telecommunications at UNSW as a Senior Lecturer, later becoming an Associate Professor from 2013 to 2017 and achieving Full Professor status in November 2017. Throughout his career, he has held various editorial roles including Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Wireless Communications and IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, and is currently the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal Communications Information Networks. His contributions extend to serving as Area Editor for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and various leadership roles in numerous conferences. His research interests encompass cognitive radio and massive MIMO, with an impressive publication record of over 200 papers in IEEE journals and conferences, alongside the authorship of three books. He holds distinguished fellowships in IEEE and IET and is recognized as a Distinguished Lecturer by the IEEE Communications Society for the 2016-2017 term. Additionally, he contributes to the technical committee of wireless communications and has been engaged in several major IEEE symposiums.
