Biography

Weibiao Cao is a Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Medicine at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. With extensive expertise in Anatomic Pathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, and Genitourinary Pathology, he is also a staff Surgical Pathologist at Lifespan Academic Medical Center. His studies explore the role of various enzymes and intracellular signaling pathways in these conditions, particularly how acid reflux might lead to increased hydrogen peroxide production and DNA damage in esophageal cells. He aims to identify potential therapeutic targets to prevent the progression of Barrett's esophagus to esophageal adenocarcinoma. Dr. Cao is a recognized researcher and has been awarded several scientific grants for his work, as well as numerous accolades for his contributions to the field of medicine. Additionally, he is actively involved in multiple professional associations related to physiology, gastroenterology, and pathology.
