Biography

Weichen Lin is a celebrated marimba performer and percussionist known for his versatility across solo, chamber, contemporary, and orchestral music. He has served as a member of the Percussive Arts Society Keyboard Committee from 2016 to 2022 and performed with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra between 2016 and 2019. Weichen is a dynamic international artist who collaborates with Duo LinLynn, with their debut album 'Stars' earning a Gold Medal at the Global Music Awards in 2024. As a core member of ToolBox Percussion Hong Kong, he will join Boston University as a marimba faculty member in Spring 2025. Weichen has performed as a concerto soloist with ensembles such as the Houston Symphony, Helena Symphony, Taipei Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and the Boston University Symphony Orchestra. His performances and masterclasses span several countries, including Australia, China, Italy, Japan, and the United States. He has premiered works by composers such as Yao Chen and Julie Spencer. An experienced adjudicator, Weichen has judged competitions like the Taiwan Music Competition and Australian Marimba Competition. He has received multiple awards, including the Prize at the 2008 Classical Marimba League International Artist Competition and the 2007 Italy PAS Percussion Competition. He was also honored with the NTCH Young Star Series Award in 2013 and the Outstanding Alumni Award from Taipei National University of the Arts in 2017. Weichen has toured internationally with prestigious orchestras and performed at significant festivals, collaborating with esteemed conductors including Long Yu and Sir Andrew Davis.
