Weilin Yang is a glaciologist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Monash University, having obtained a PhD in Physical Geography from Peking University in January 2023. Her doctoral research involved modeling and analyzing long-term evolution of paleoglaciers and the climatic driving mechanisms behind them, utilizing a combination of numerical modeling, geochronology, glacial geomorphology mapping, and GIS/Remote Sensing technologies. Weilin currently collaborates with Prof Andrew Mackintosh on a project focused on global glacier mass changes using ice flow models. This work aims to enhance understanding of glacial sea level changes and water resources. Her research interests encompass reconstructions of paleoglaciers and paleoclimate through glacial models, projections of glacier mass changes, glacial lake evolution, and global mean sea-level changes, all significant to addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
