Biography

Weiyun Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Exercise Science at the University of Michigan. She is the Director of the Physical Activity & Health Laboratory and a member of the Graduate Faculty in Movement Science. Dr. Chen's research centers on the development and evaluation of technology-enhanced physical activity interventions aimed at promoting physical activity behaviors, cognition, mental health, and overall psychological well-being across the lifespan. Dr. Chen's team has conducted significant studies examining the effects of school-based physical activity interventions on students' motor skills and fitness levels. Additionally, she investigates the impact of different physical activities on cardiometabolic health among various population groups, including college students and middle-aged adults. Dr. Chen has made substantial contributions to the field through over 110 research presentations and has served in editorial roles for journals related to physical education and exercise science. Notably, she is a Fellow of SHAPE America and actively participates in initiatives aimed at promoting child health and wellness.
