Dr. Wen Hu

Biography

Wen Hu is a professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). His research career is focused on novel applications in low-power communications, security, compressive sensing, and sensor network systems, particularly in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT). He regularly publishes in top-rated venues for sensor networks and mobile computing, including ACM/IEEE IPSN, ACM SenSys, ACM MobiCom, ACM UbiComp, IEEE PerCOM, and IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing. Professor Hu has served as a principal research scientist and project leader at the CSIRO Digital Productivity Flagship. He received his Ph.D. from UNSW and has been awarded the prestigious CSIRO Office Chief Executive Julius Career Award from 2012 to 2015. He has been involved in multiple research grants from the Australian Research Council and CSIRO, and he is a senior member of both ACM and IEEE. Hu is actively commercializing research results related to smart buildings in IoT and has held roles such as Chief Technology Officer at Parking Spotz and Chief Scientist at WBS Tech. He has also contributed significantly to academic conference organization and serves on various program committees in networking conferences.
