Biography

Wen Song holds the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation Centennial Fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on elucidating micro/nanoscale reactive transport processes in porous geomaterials that fundamentally control the management of energy and environmental resources. Specifically, his group develops unique operando visualization platforms that enable imaging of dynamic fluid-solid interactions at interfacial, pore, and pore-ensemble scales. He joined the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering as an Assistant Professor in January 2019 after earning his Ph.D. in Energy Resources Engineering from Stanford University. Dr. Song has received numerous accolades including the NSF CAREER Award and the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund Doctoral New Investigator Award. His teaching includes courses on small-scale fluid flow and primary recovery in petroleum engineering. Further, he is dedicated to mentorship and education in the field of petroleum engineering and environmental science, contributing to various educational programs and initiatives.
