Biography

Wen Tan completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universiti Malaysia Sabah in 2011. He obtained his Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2013, developing a distributed generation planning model using a hybrid artificial intelligence approach. In 2017, he earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with a thesis on flexibility-based scheduling for variable wind power and conventional generation. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University Tenaga Nasional from 2018 to 2019. Currently, he is a senior lecturer in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Monash University Malaysia. His primary research interests include stochastic generation scheduling, energy storage, renewable energy, and smart grid technology. He has published numerous papers in top journals such as IEEE Transactions on Power Systems and Renewable Energy.
