Biography

Wencheng Jin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2018, his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the same institution in 2016, and his M.Eng. and B.Eng. in Engineering Mechanics from Sichuan University in China in 2014 and 2011, respectively. Dr. Jin's research interests include novel rock breakage, fracture subsurface resource recovery, data-driven physics-based multiphysics modeling, porous media, and granular material flow characterization modeling. He is particularly focused on engineering applications in enhanced geothermal systems (EGS), reservoir thermal energy storage (RTES), geologic hydrogen, and critical minerals mining. Jin has received multiple accolades, including the Early Career Achievement Award from the Energy Environmental Science & Technology Directorate at Idaho National Laboratory in 2023, being named a Future Leader by the American Rock Mechanics Association in 2022, and the Ph.D. Thesis Award from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology in 2018.
