Biography

Wendie Robbins is a Professor and the Director of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Program at the Joe C. Wen School of Nursing. She holds additional faculty appointments at the UCLA Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, the UCLA Molecular Toxicology Interdepartmental Program, and the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Professor Robbins’ research primarily focuses on the relationships between work, environment, and health, with a particular emphasis on reproductive health. Her work includes laboratory-based and epidemiologic studies conducted both nationally and internationally. She has over a decade of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in medically underserved areas affected by environmental pollution. Currently, she directs an Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing Program funded by the CDC NIOSH, which trains PhD and Master's level students across UCLA and UC Irvine. Her scholarship explores work as a social determinant of health, as well as the impact of environmental factors on health across communities, especially in the context of disasters.
