Wendy Anderson has held a research and teaching position in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Glasgow since 2009. She served as a Research Associate on projects such as the Scottish Corpus of Texts and Speech (SCOTS) and the Corpus of Modern Scottish Writing (CMSW), where she created large online corpora for texts of Scottish English varieties. Prior to her time at Glasgow, she was a Teaching Fellow in French at the University of St Andrews, where she completed her PhD in French linguistics. Her research interests focus on semantics and metaphor, and also encompass corpus linguistics, collocation, phraseology, and translation. Wendy has been the Principal Investigator on several projects including 'Mapping Metaphor in the Historical Thesaurus' and 'Metaphor Curriculum', both funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). She supervises PhD and MPhil students mainly in the areas of corpus linguistics, semantics, metaphor, and lexicography. Additionally, Wendy has served as the Assistant Vice-Principal for Learning and Teaching and has been a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is also an Associate Editor for 'Digital Scholarship in the Humanities' and serves as a Subject Editor for 'Forum for Modern Language Studies'.
