Biography

Wendy Darlington is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago. She serves as the clinical director of the pediatric neuro-oncology program and is a member of the Chicago Sickle Cell Disease Research Group. Her primary research focuses on health outcomes in patients with sickle cell disease. Dr. Darlington graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston with her MD in 2009, completed a pediatrics residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, and underwent a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Chicago. In 2014, she obtained a Master of Arts in Public Policy from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. Her current research interests include the impact of socioeconomic factors on health outcomes in chronic childhood illnesses, particularly sickle cell disease, and public policies aimed at improving healthcare access and patient outcomes.
