Biography

Wendy Harcourt is a Professor of Gender, Diversity, and Sustainable Development at the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University in The Hague. She has published widely on critical development studies and feminist theory, focusing particularly on feminist political ecology and engaged gender development networks. Harcourt has chaired the Network Women Development Europe and coordinated the EU-funded Innovative Training Network Wellbeing Ecology Gender community. She joined ISS in November 2011 and has over 23 years of experience in the Society for International Development, Rome, where she served as Editor of the journal Development and Director of Programs. Her scholarly contributions include 12 edited books and a notable monograph titled 'Body Politics Development: Critical Debates on Gender and Development', published by Zed Books in 2009, which received the 2010 Feminist Women Studies Association Book Prize. She has served as a series editor for Palgrave Gender, Development Social Change and the ISS-Routledge Series on Gender, Development, and Sexuality, actively participating in gender development journal boards and civil society networks.
