Biography

Wendy Hunter studies Comparative Politics with an emphasis on Latin American affairs. She has conducted extensive work on the military in Brazil and the Southern Cone region, focusing on social policy issues in Latin America, especially the politics of education and health reform. Her publications include the book 'Workers' Party Brazil' and various articles in reputable journals such as Comparative Politics, Comparative Political Studies, and American Political Science Review. Hunter's recent research addresses issues of identity documentation in the developing world. She has authored significant works published by Cambridge University Press and the University of North Carolina Press, contributing to the discourse surrounding political developments in Brazil from 1989 to 2009. As a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin, she teaches courses related to Latin American politics and gender equality.
