Biography

Associate Professor Wendy Imlach heads the Pain Mechanisms lab in the Department of Physiology at Monash University and serves as the Deputy Head of the Neuroscience Program in the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute. Her research is focused on understanding neural circuits in the spinal cord that are activated during chronic pain, with an effort to identify new therapeutic targets. Wendy obtained her PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Otago in New Zealand and has held postdoctoral positions at Columbia University in New York, as well as the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney in Australia. Her background spans neuropharmacology and synaptic physiology, specifically investigating spinal dorsal horn circuitry related to nociceptive signaling.
